Altech Netstar has won a multi-million Rand contract from the South African Breweries (SAB) to provide an integrated service solution to its large fleet of Secondary Distribution trucks and trailers.

It follows an extensive tender and evaluation process and includes a sophisticated shipment tracking system, a gate scanning solution, and integration into  SAB’s ERP platform, Altech said.

The exact value of the contract was not disclosed, but it includes “thousands of devices over a five year period”, Altech Netstar – which is owned by the JSE listed Altron Group – said.

Altron pointed out in its recent set of results that Altech Netstar remains the largest profit contributor for the group with R294 million and a 9% improvement on the prior year.

Altron noted that Netstar’s total subscriber base has grown to 580,503.

SAB’s Donavan Hendricks said: “Our ability to track and manage all secondary distribution fleet real-time, allows SAB to make immediate, informed decisions which can influence both the customer experience and our ability to maximise efficiency.”

MD at Altech Netstar, Harry Louw, said: “The SAB Secondary Distribution fleet is certainly one of the most prestigious fleets in SA, and we are proud to be rolling out our newly developed shipment tracking system into their environment.”
