Fatima Hassim, Managing Executive: SME and Indirect Channel Vodacom South Africa, brings a wealth of experience in strategic management positions within the B2B and B2C space in the telecommunications industry.
Having honed her skills at Vodacom over the last 20 years, Fatima is driven by the opportunities and possibilities innovation could bring to businesses across Africa.
“The ICT sector is the most interesting and progressive of all industries,” she says.
“I see digital transformation as being a key influencer in this industry which will assist with economic growth, education and health which is a priority.

Driving converged and digital transformation for private sector businesses in South Africa along with her brand, product, channels and sales growth experience across various divisions at the multinational is something that comes natural to Fatima having graduated with a Bcompt Accounting Science degree.
This has enabled her to diversify her career at Vodacom by experiencing the different facets of the business.
Under her leadership, she has overseen strong growth within Vodacom business by enabling agility and collaboration in a highly competitive market.
Fatima has shown her ability to capitalise and understand the dynamics of the market by understanding various situations, like the current economic climate as well as being able to drive double digital sales growth by understanding the consumer’s demands and needs by formulating clear and insightful growth strategies.
She has managed to achieve this in an industry dominated by her male counterparts.
“Within the industry I see a huge gap with the lack of women firstly in this sector and secondly in management positions. I see this as an opportunity to grow and showcase my capabilities.
“There is room for improvement from corporates to ensure that more women get opportunities within the sector and this can be done through internships, mentorship programs and leadership courses,” she said.
Women bring a different dimension to the workplace and add value in another way as compared to our male counterparts.
