Thami Mtshali has stepped down as iBurst CEO, and has been replaced by an “internal acting CEO”.

While Mtshali is no longer involved in the day-to-day activities of the business, he remains a shareholder and director of the iBurst holding company WBS.

MyBroadband asked iBurst who its new acting CEO is, but the company could not immediately answer that question.

WBS is seen as an attractive acquisition target for telecommunications operators, mainly because of its spectrum licenses and its established backhaul network.

The company has been linked to acquisition talks with Dimension Data and MTN, but according to industry sources these discussions have not lead to any deals to date.
