The most racist countries in the world

The most racist countries in the world

Economic and trading group, Insider Monkey, has combined the findings from two separate surveys in race relations and compiled a ranking of the 25 most racist countries.

The two surveys cover different aspects of racism, but not racism directly – as the group points out, many people may not even know if they are racist.

The first survey was conducted by the Washington Post and broadly asked if people would like having people of other races as neighbours. Answers saying no were assumed to have some form of racial basis.

The second survey was more direct, asking whether respondents had seen or experienced racism. All answers that we not a direct “no not at all”, were considered as a check next to racism.

The findings cover the responses of over 85,000 people from 61 countries between 2014 and 2015.

South Africa was ranked as the 9th most racist country based on the survey results, where 19.6% of people said they would not like having people of different races living next door to them – while 61.8% of people said they had witnessed or experienced some form of racism.

Recent data released by the South African Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR) showed that South Africans feel like race relations in the country have worsened since 1994 – however, contrasting data from the Institute of Race Relations (IRR) found the opposite had ocurred.

In 2015, IRR commissioned a national opinion survey of public attitudes to race, empowerment, and other policy issues entitled Race: What South Africans really think.

Insider Monkey said that individually, the surveys are too broad to give an indication of racism, which is incredibly complex to ‘define’ due to the subjectivity involved – and even when combined, the topic of ‘racism’ still isn’t comprehensive.

However, “when you combine two or more approaches it is more likely that some of these biases cancel out and the resulting estimate is more accurate,” it said.

One caveat to the data was that it only covered 61 countries. “It is highly likely that the rankings would be different if (Syria and Austria) and other excluded countries were part of the survey,” the group said.

It said it applied the same method as it does to to identify the best stocks to invest in the stock market, which it does by calculating the consensus picks of over 700 hedge fund managers.

These are the 25 most racist countries based on the results:

# Country % Who don’t want neighbours of another race % of people who witnessed racist behaviour
1 India 43.6 64.3
2 Lebanon 36.3 64.4

11 Malaysia 31.3 34.4
12 Nigeria 21.0 42.5
13 Iraq 27.7 37.8

Interesting, the correlation between neighbours vs racist behaviour. SA is 4th lowest, in terms of neighbours of a different race, yet 4th highest in respect of awareness of racist behaviour. A discrepancy which shows very clearly a picture manipulated to show that which is not true?

    • PilotLight

Correct, but all know the ANC government is racist and plays the race card to keep itself in power.

      • slacks

Yeah because white people are not racists. They just speak the truth. Their is an awareness because we blackies aren’t as dumb as YOU think. We know you are racist because of what we read on forums. We can read. And how you speak to us. We do understand English.

        • PilotLight

Act like a cadre and you get treated like a cadre.

        • “aren’t as dumb as you think”

          There*

        • PilotLight

You comment on its own shows that you don’t know what racism is, do not have a grasp of the English language and you are not as intelligent as you would like to believe. Stop playing the racism card, and start actually doing something for yourself.

        • ian shaw

slacks: there are two sides of every coin and yours is every bit as legitimate as ours, but at least whites don’t openly advocate killing blacks as part of their “racism”.

          • Kgololosego

They used now it’s our chance so let us enjoy people

        • TheZenOfZen

1 or 2 forum members do not represent the entire white race. When crime is committed by blacks, does that make all blacks criminals?

        • Unskinnybob

Judging an entire race based on a few forum comments.

      • john speck

Blacks claim they cant be racists aswell and the media have climbed on the bandwagon….they are just as bad racists especially some of 702.

      • Kgololosego

Spoken like someone who hasn’t suffered from a racist act

        • PilotLight

I live under the yoke of your racist cadre.

          • Kgololosego

White people know nothing about racism and think just because the country is run by blacks it’s racist towards them, people like you make me hate whites more and more

          • Unskinnybob

            Racist

          • Kgololosego

So when I call you out on your racist behaviours and lack of respect I’m being racist, please shut up kid

          • Unskinnybob

No – when you say you hate someone based on their race I call you a racist. Get an education moron.

          • Kgololosego

Well if a certain group of people act like retards and I’m racist for calling them out so be it, I’m more educated than you kid, just because you born with a silver spoon up you behind don’t think your in anyway or form better than me

          • Unskinnybob

So I should call you a murdering child rapist? Gotcha.

I highly doubt the educated bit.

        • Unskinnybob

Racism: We’ve been having it. BEE, AA, “kill the boer”…

        • ian shaw

Kgolo, lots of white people suffered from being discriminated against, and not necessarily because of their race. Believe me , it still hurts and we do have an idea what it’s like.

      • finjo

You say all know ANC Govenment is racist, who is all. We dont know that, PilotLight, and we are the majority, you are the minority, but being the minority you seem to know something what all people know but the majority the people does not know

        • PilotLight

The ANC’s exclusion policy is recognized as a form of genocide the UN itself, All white are prejudiced by a very small number of businessmen, most of whom are not even South African. The ANC spends its time playing the race card.

        • PilotLight

Who is ‘ALL”, obviously it doesn’t include the cadre, they don’t know much of anything. but the all does include ll the blacks who are intelligent enough to support other parties who actively campaign against the cadre. As for the majority, you of course know that, that majority vote of yours was made up of less than 30% of the population hey?

        • ian shaw

Your erstwhile president said too, that the majority has more rights than the minority and that in his mind this is how democracy works.
You are right that a lot of this majority does not know the real reasons for their misery and just believe what they are told by the ANC: “obviously the whites”..

      • Slamat Eks Gamat

What a racist fool you are. Racism is inherent with the white race. They brought the scourge of racism to Africa and all over the world they illegally occupied.

        • PilotLight

Bwahaha, and you call me a fool? Maybe time to drop you inferiority complex and sense of entitlement and accept that racism is nothing more than a black word to express something black tribes practice and have practiced long before the first white person was unlucky enough to land in this dust https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/407f54b06d557cf9c9500c35a98763c57f1864d1f72cac62739d85eeb2201919.gif bowl, you just call it tribalism or xenophobia. Got gain some real world knowledge before you start pointing fingers

          • Slamat Eks Gamat

I observe that as a fool it is hard for you to see the foolishness in you.

          • PilotLight

13 days to come up with that?

          • Slamat Eks Gamat

You forking fool. I do not log in everyday, like you blerrie internet trolls. Go fork jou mum.

          • PilotLight

Nice your moral standards, education and breeding shine through.

          • Slamat Eks Gamat

I wonder if you do have a higher education degree? You sound rather stupid and ignorant. Forking internet troll.

        • Kgololosego

          Very well said my friend

    • ian shaw

I have and absolutely don’t mind living next door to people of other colour and fortunately my neighbours don’t have noisy parties at night.

  • Joe Black

I would say the first metric in the table should be weighted more. Its not hard to perceive racist behaviour anywhere in the world in all its many forms. A large percentage of people not even wanting people of other races as neighbours. Well… That’s serious.

    • Friendo

I find it hard to perceive that a White man could be named “Joe Black”??

And why isn’t Israel on the list?

      http://i.giphy.com/wLsDPsTkdGIeI.gif

      • Andre

Because Israel is not inherently racist. They have no issue with Palestinians. It’s the other way round that forces them to create barriers etc.as can actually be seen by this very list.lol

        • wo0two0t1

I could say the same about a lot of South Africans – if some weren’t so destructive and violent you would probably find less racism here.

          • Mossel

            Exactly.

        • v_3

Did you notice how many Muslim countries are at the top of the list?

        • Friendo

Let’s be honest Andre. Israel is the most racist country in the middle east. The Jewish State.

If I said European-American State I would be excoriated. Only Israel thinks they are the chosen. Chosen for what? Who the hell knows?

        • Friendo

You sound like you are Israeli. Doesn’t Israel require DNA tests to prove they are Jewish? That is not a story. That is racism.

          • Andre

Lol not Israeli and not even Jewish. Think that DNA test thing related to Israels birthright and its Law of Return As they wanted to ensure those that were given citizenship by that law was correct. I don’t see how that is racist at all but it’s all good. 😃 Have a good day!

        • Friendo

          Israel:

          Non-Jews are forbidden from marrying Jews;
          Non-Jews are forbidden from immigrating into Israel;
          Non-Jews are segregated in housing and schools from Jews;
          Non-Jew schools are forced out of Israel;
Israel bases its citizenship laws upon the Nazi Nuremberg Laws; and
Israel tests the Jewishness of would-be immigrants using DNA tests.

          • ian shaw

Only those whose mother was Jewish are considered to be Jewish.

        • ian shaw

Well, is a country like Israel not racist when it wants to keep their country’s pure Jewish population and not allow non-Jewish immigration? This is in fact the essence of racism.

      • PilotLight

Because the “Racist Israel” story is exactly that a story.

        • Friendo

You sound like you are Israeli. Doesn’t Israel require DNA tests to prove they are Jewish? That is not a story.

          • PilotLight

And whats your point, that national or bloodline identity is wrong?, bull!.

          • ian shaw

Well, does this mean that all immigrants, for example, be DNA-tested for specific ancestry? Do you remember the now defunct USA immigration laws of preference for “Nordic” people while disallowing “inferior Greeks, Italians, Slavics, Hungarians, or even Chinese and Japanese”?

          • PilotLight

What are you waffling on about?, read what I said again and don’t be obtuse. I never said anyone should be anything. I said every country has the right to do it.

          • ian shaw

Well, then it is a “right” to be racist. Heil Hitler?

          • Friendo

No it’s not wrong. So don’t tell us to be multicultural and diverse when you are ethnocentric. What hypocrisy.

          • PilotLight

REALLY!, go back and read your own comments then decide who’s the Hypocrite.

          • Friendo

PilotLight, I believe yours has burnt out.

        • Friendo

Sir here is your Israel reality-check:

          Non-Jews are forbidden from marrying Jews;
          Non-Jews are forbidden from immigrating into Israel;
          Non-Jews are segregated in housing and schools from Jews;
          Non-Jew schools are forced out of Israel;
Israel bases its citizenship laws upon the Nazi Nuremberg Laws; and
Israel tests the Jewishness of would-be immigrants using DNA tests.

          • PilotLight

Sorry, can’t help it if you are a libtard that denies the right to nationality or bloodline history.

          • ian shaw

So nationality must be based on “bloodline history”? Most nations are already mixed “bloodwise” due to immigration, historical influx and conquests. Even the Jews are Askenazis and Sephardic, depending upon their geographical origins.

          • PilotLight

Once again stop waffling off on a tangent. Who said “MUST”

          • ian shaw

Your crude and uncouth replies reeking of indignant emotion show clearly, that you were caught out.

          • PilotLight

You wish big boy, just tired of little people like you trying to turn thing I said into something they are not, run along now

          • ian shaw

PilotLight: : Tell me, is it worth getting so upset over a trivial blog?
Whatever my shortcoming are in your view, should not be used to shorten your life. Why is it that important to feel “right”?

          • PilotLight

Nice try little one. Bottom line irrespective of whether you agree or even like it is that each country is a sovereign state, with the full right to impose any laws or requirements it believes will protect its heritage, and even bloodline if that were possible. your objections are irrelevant. And again for the record uncouth replies are only for people like you who take a comment about their right to do so and go off on a tangent about me saying it “must”

          • ian shaw

You emotional outbursts and insults prove again that my remarks must have hit a nerve, Sorry for bristling your fur against the weave.

          • Friendo

Sir. It is Israel that denies nationality and/or bloodline. Everyone else has to become “diverse” and multicultural.

But you know that. Are you one of those hypocrites who speak with a forked tongue?

          • PilotLight

Only Libtards push for the big light brown humaity that sit’s holding hand singing Kum Ba Yah. The rest of already know it will never happen.

      • Joe Black

Have you never seen the movie?

  • RonHess

This entire article is disingenuous. What is “racism?” I think “racism” is a government that refuses to allow White people to attend medical school, or flight school, or even to receive charity. It’s a government that relegates hundreds of thousands of people to live in squatters’ camps because they are white. It’s a government that sings “Kill the Boer” and turns its back on little children like Willemien Potgieter who get shot execution-style like her parents. THAT’S RACISM!

    • blackb0n3

      racism

      ˈreɪsɪz(ə)m

      noun

the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

Still have a question on what racism is?

      • RonHess

“Racism” is a slur invented by communists to be used against whitey for the sole purpose of shaming him into giving up his birth right. I know what “racism” truly is.

        • blackb0n3

          Clearly you don’t…😞

          • RonHess

I understand the situation quite completely. As a black, you only understand your perceived “oppression.”

          • blackb0n3

For starters, you’re assuming I’m black – which I may or may not be, but that’s immaterial as far as this discussion goes. Secondly, I’m neither oppressed nor have any perception of oppression. Thirdly, racism does not apply to blacks only – as the definition clearly says, “it is the belief that all members of **each race** possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.” – it doesn’t say anything about Black. So, once again…you clearly don’t know what racism is!

          • RonHess

I understand more than the book definition. I am explaining the word’s true purpose and function. The term was first used by Trotsky, as a way to turn the normal tribalistic feelings of Europeans into a pejorative to be exploited. Today, Trotsky’s spiritual descendants think all white people should be exterminated. Why? Because “racism.” Well, I wish we really HAD been “racists,” because ultimately, that seems to be the only way civilizations DO survive. The Christian compassion that tempers true tribalist instincts doesn’t seem to have worked out well for the Boer.

          • blackb0n3

All words have an origin, and the original meaning of the word may/may not still be relevant today. Trotsky used the word “racism” to mean something else other than what it means today, but that is NOT the origin of the word. If you do your research you’ll find that the word racism dates as far back as 1902 (and Trotsky only used it in 1927).

The Oxford English Dictionary’s first recorded utterance of the word “racism” was by a man named Richard Henry Pratt in 1902.

This was some 25 years before Trotsky used the word…

Also, how is racism the “only” way that civilizations survive? What sort of civilization survives and thrives on discrimination and prejudice? Are you suggesting that the ANC should implement racist policies for “civilisation” to survive? Is it OK for educated White South Africans to be overlooked for positions simply because they’re not Black? Frankly I think you’re mixing a lot of issues. I think you understand racism as used by Trotsky but not as used by this article, and certainly not as used by ordinary South Africans.

          • RonHess

Civilizations do not survive by allowing enemies (which means all racial others) to occupy one’s space. Merkel is murdering her own nation to prove she’s not “racist.” Screw that. Tribalism is survival, therefore “racism” is survival. And yes, educated South Africans ARE being deliberately cast aside because they are not black, whether it’s “OK” or not. If the Boers wanted to survive, they should have exterminated the Zulu at Blood River. They did not. Now they will be exterminated themselves, because they were too soft. The only way to avoid this is to swap American blacks for South African Whites and repatriate everyone else. Only homogeneous societies work. Only homogeneous societies CAN work. #TradeBlacksForBoers

          • blackb0n3

The first problem is that you assume every racial group is an enemy of every other racial group – that statement has no basis. Racism (or any form of discrimination for that matter) is not survival, it is plain stupidity regardless of what race the perpetrator belongs to (Blacks/Whites/etc). The second problem is that you think all “Whites” are “friends” hence if they relocate to America things will “work” – it doesn’t always work that way. For example, English people and Boers are “whites” but they don’t necessarily get along very well – I know this from experience. So, as much as you feel strongly about racism, it doesn’t change that fact that it’s wrong and ultimately does not benefit anyone.

          • Mossel

Exactly. I’ve been saying it for a while, it’s not about race. It never was. It’s about culture and language. One group of people usually doesn’t like the way another group does things. Whether it be how loud you speak (americans!) or how badly you braai (English south Africans 🙂 that is also a joke.), it doesn’t matter. I’m used to the way my people do things and I like it. If I want to see how others do things Ill go check it out, learn something and return home.

          • ian shaw

The North American Indians (“Native Americans” as they are called today) were largely exterminated an thereby the USA population was largely “homogenized”.

          • Mossel

Although I do agree with some things you say, I don’t think that only homogeneous societies can work. But they do prosper, because there is no perceived racism to hold them back. I have been pondering the idea for quite some time: I don’t have any issue with any people from another race, not Indians, not blacks, no one. But think of it this way, I would love to go visit India, see the culture, embrace the country and it’s people. After I do that I would want to come back to SA and speak Afrikaans to my people. Does that mean I hate Indians and couldn’t live with them? No. I just like being around Afrikaners. But according to most of SA that is racist. I think our countries selling point “unity in diversity” will be our downfall.

    • peterq

I don’t know. You could argue the ANC treat their own people as badly besides the lucky few. It is a case of a few eating now then another small group take over while the majority are ignored.

  • mjmapi

Now to the real question, whats the breakdown of the19.6% by race so we can have a picture of whose the most racist?

    • James Dean

Of course they would leave that out.

    • Mossel

Would be interesting to see, but we all probably know the outcome. The question is then, is it racist to prefer a neighbor of your own race/religion/culture? If yes, why?

      • ian shaw

Mossel, No, it is a natural human tendency. Yet this absolutely does not mean a justification of intolerance whenever one’s neighbours are of another race of culture.

  • Roland of Gilead

This is a really a bad survey….saying “I havent seen racism at all” is clearly impossible in south africa. Infact jf you ask me saying you’ve never seen any racism means that you are more likely to he racist and unaware. Yu should ask mildly racist to extremely racist questions. Would you sit next to someone on the train of a different race if you could avoid it? Wiuld you let your son/daugter marry somsone of a different race? Its reaaaly not that difficult to figure out if aomeone is racist

  • Jon Low

I wouldn’t want university students as neighbours, even though I was once a student and, ipso facto, someone’s neighbour. I was noisy and thoughtless then, and I wouldn’t like to have my student self as my neighbour today. What sort of -ism is this?

    • Shroom

      Self-ism?

      • Owl

        Or Old-Fart-ism? 😉

        • Jon Low

          Or peaceful sleepism

          • Owl

            oopsie.. 🙂

    • TastyFace

Ageism (also spelled “agism”) is stereotyping and discriminating against individuals or groups on the basis of their age. This may be casual or systematic. The term was coined in 1969 by Robert Neil Butler to describe discrimination against seniors, and patterned on sexism and racism. – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ageism

      • Totorino

        Dontcarism

      • ian shaw

Ageism is alive and well in South Africa, where the accent is on giving jobs to young unqualified blacks and shun experienced and qualified older whites under the aegis of “representivity”..

      • TheZenOfZen

Listen to 5FM and you will hear agism almost hourly.

    • Owl

      Grump-ism or Pain-in-the-Butt-ism?

    • ikick

      Middle-classism

    • Gideon Keyser

If you are white and the neighbor is black, then it’s racism.

  • Gary Fields

Not a single ‘western country’….mmmm…I wonder why?

  • bengine

A bit misleading. The second question is highly subjective. The first question is a better indication and in terms of that SA has the 5th lowest score. Given the highly charged political environment and the broad definition of what racist is – then the second question metric is not really useful as you have no way of comparing apples with apples.

  • slacks

The survey must have been run long before Trump came on the scene. From all the support he has. They should be near the top

  • Black Confusion

The company that ran this survey has a racist second name…

  • Bash

see there is one significant tell on racism.
if you ever imply that a genuinely non-racist person’s expressions are racist. they will ask how, and if justified in any way be apologetic and adjust their attitude- just to not repeat any misunderstanding.

racist people will invariably shout you down with an aggressive and hostile attitude. racism is a form of aggression in both passive and active expressions.
and it is something which racists will always deny because it is a form of insecurity.

    • Hennie

There is a lot of truth in what you say.

    • ian shaw

This insecurity against “foreign aggression” seems to be justifiable. Just watch the recent negative European response (against Merkel’s suicidal madness) to Muslim migrants who quite openly want to take over and instead of integrating into the host country, want to establish Sharia law under Muslim rule.

      • Bash

then you should say that the palestininian resistance to the european invasion of 1948 is fully justifiable. the israelis set the precedent.

        • ian shaw

Bash, if you examine human history, someone always had set the precedence for every dastardly act.

  • weepee1

Ol Shower Head really believes that the Gupta’s and Shaiks of the world are pals with him because they think he’s an awesome guy.

    • peterq

We know what they really think of Zuma from the wedding.

      • ian shaw

The Guptas are actually laughing about how easy and relatively cheap it was to pocket Zuma.

        • peterq

It is not cheap, it is for FREE!!!!! They are using our own tax money to buy themselves what they want. National Treasury almost bought SAA for them.

  • Jaco Smit

Funny that the US of A not featured… I’d also rank them in the top 10.

    • David

      This should answer your question.
      Insider Monkey contact details:
Address: 236 River Mews Lane, Edgewater, NJ, 07020

They wouldn’t want to break any myths about their own country now would they?

  • Mossel

I just have a simple question, or perhaps it’s not a simple question, but a very complicated one. Is there a problem with the saying “Birds of a feather flock together” or in Afrikaans “Soort soek soort?”

    • peterq

      Human nature?

    • ian shaw

Mossel: this reaches back as far as ancient Rome, where it was said: “Similis simili gaudet”.

      • Mossel

Didn’t even know that. Very interesting.

  • MasterZu

India at No 1….no way. Thailand and Malaysia in the Top 20, also no way. In my experiences, I found Russia and the eastern block countries very racist and thus should be high on the list. Yes, many wealthy Arabian countries should also feature on this list.

    • ian shaw

      And how about Israel?

  • Greg Gow

SA need a dialog conference to correctly define the meaning of racism across the full political and social spectrum. Currently there is a situation where racism is a very quick response to anything being said by one group of people to another group of people. This is unfortunately the case with individuals as well. A black man is well within his right to stake his or her pride in their culture and vocalise it. If this is done by a white man they they are labelled as racists which is a very big generalisation. This is precisely why we need full dialog on the subject of racism much like a TRC type setup, so that we can move forward.

  • Dubbs

Not one European Country…and Australia??Wow, you can really tell who wrote this article. Bloody denialists.

  • David

Giving a time frame when when people experienced racism (e.g pre 1994post 1994 or 51015 years ago) would give a better indication of where South Africa stands

    • PilotLight

The survey’s time frame is now.

  • That’s it, I’m moving to India… I need a challenge in my life.

  • peterq

If we got rid of the racist ANC we would see race relations improve 300%.

    • finjo

Get rid of racist ANC you say petrq and replace it with what

      • peterq

A non-racist ANC or another party that is not racist. I do not care just give us a decent government that makes the people’s lives better.

        • Kgololosego

Unfortunately every single party at the moment is racist and we can’t realy kick the cANCer out because atleast they aren’t as bad as the alternatives or would all of you rather have DA or EFF I’ll pass on those 2 thank you

          • peterq

I agree rather have a government that lets non-South Africans control and lead it.

          • Kgololosego

What other options do we have, this cANCer is bad for all of us but DA or EFF it would even be worse

  • Deon Levine

Israel is supposed to be number one on the list but is nowhere featured. The only country in the world with a fence around its neighbours to protect the stolen land and the illegitimate state. Hillarious.

  • Deon Levine

    False survey definitely.

  • Mikhael Rowe

We got beaten by India? INDIA? Ah man, I can’t curry on like this.

    • Owl

You better Rowe-your boat ashore, before you catch fire!

          • You guys better stop Pillaying around with words.

          • Owl

  • VaMutuki

Well done RSA. You’re in top ten

  • Vax Xray

Where are the Americans, why are they missing from the prime spot?

    • Friendo

Are you serious? Where are the African countries?

  • Nkosinathi Fuhluza Luthuli

    Where is Italy and Spain

  • Padraigin Eagle

Nine never fails: Marx had a plan, Insider Monkey’s now spread the virus unto the human

The race card now being played hard, the target be light, if ye be white, not of the $ibtard type, appreciate, surely you now see, that the choice will be, stand and fight or capitulate unto the night, the dark side now slithers into every crevice, using that well-honed Machiavellian psyop propaganda device, statistics that can’t hide their malice, ’tis a numbers game that lies doth tell us, the target be white, are you ready for the fight, it be well past midnight, ‘and many people might not know they are racist’, hahahahahah, Machiavelli with a Tribal twist.

  • White

And where are the cries to “stop racism” in all these countries? They don’t exist because we all know what “racism” actually means. “Anti-racist” is a codeword for anti-white.

  • AWA Entrepreneur

People should evaluate their superiority complexes; racism is just a spill off of such, as is tribalism, xenophobia, snobs etc; You’re no better than a Zimbabwean because you’re South African; no better than a begger because you’re wealhier; no better than a Tsonga bz you’re Zulu. As long as you think of yourself as a better human being and dont see others as equal. White or black… don’t judge the racists then, cause you’re no different.

    • ian shaw

AWA: So I am not better than a criminal? This neo-liberal idea of complete equality is nonsense. People should be judged by their actions over a period of time. People come with different backgrounds and innate talents and this has nothing to do with race.

      • AWA Entrepreneur

Eeeerrrrr….No. You’re not better than anyone. we all have flaws, all humans, all in the eyes of ONE that matters… same! Don’t judge the next person and think of yourself as any better. You’re not.

        • ian shaw

As long as you do not mix God into your comment, I accept your criticism.

  • TheZenOfZen

In SA there’s a noticeable cultural shift within race groups. As young people grow up after being schooled with all races, and as older, more traditional racists die off, we are more likely to experience culturalism than racism.

    • ian shaw

Zen: it is not a cultural difference but the difference of class (economics)
      Incidentally, remember the great admonition:
“When the Great Tao was abandoned
      There appeared humanity and justice.
      When intelligence and wit arose
      There appeared great hypocrites.
When the six relations lost their harmony
There appeared filial piety and paternal kindness.
When darkness and disorder began to reign in a kingdom,
      There appeared the loyal ministers.”

      • TheZenOfZen

You have a valid point. I’d argue that money doesn’t buy class. If it did, we’d not be in the mess we are now.

You’re obviously referring to a state of being afforded to people with a means to live a better life based on their income and not so much a “class” of sophistication. That being the case, we may not judge them according to their lack of wealth, as some people do, but we still judge people based on their actions that their culture has conditioned them into doing.

        • ian shaw

Culture make them do it? How about individual responsibility?

  • Master4real

I was expecting to see the following countries in the top ten:

    1. South Africa
    2. Israel
    3. Australia
    4. United States
    5. United Kingdom
    6. France
    7. Spain
    8. Portugal
    9. Netherlands
    10. Germany

  • Tickertapeguy

Racism in India is extreme and diverse:
    This includes:

-The caste system where 320 million Outcasts live a life that is horrible, including millions cleaning the human refuse of other Indians. The maltreatment of them by the upper casts.

-The maltreatment of India’s 100 million tribal population which is far worse and pervasive than the treatment of Native Americans to the Aborigines of Australia. It is an ongoing nightmare.

-India’s movie industry where Bollywood actors are “clones” of Hollywood including bleached skin, plastic surgery, false contact lenses, etc. No Outcast has become a major actor in India’s massive movie industry. Neither have dark skinned Indians or Indians of African origin. The stark contrast between the actors and the (darker skinned) audience is unique to India.

-India’s marriage system. An Indian family would immolate their daughter if she weds an African but would give consent if that person is a European. A classic example is Sonia Gandhi who is the head of the Congress Party.

-India’s magazines portray models for articles, that are meant for Indians, are from Northern Europe. These very fair Europeans model for products, articles and subject matters meant for Indians. Not even Mediterranean models are included. Certainly not any dark skinned Indians, Africans, or East Asians.

-India’s Hindu myths where Hindu Gods are shown as white skinned, while demons are dark skinned

The list is extensive. The book “India Shattering the Illusion. Birth of New Nations. Kashmir to Elam” by Columbus Falco covers in depth this subject and modern day India. It is the only book that openly and frankly addresses the real India. What I have listed in just the tip of a subject matter that this book covers including historical, cultural and religious reasons why a deep rooted racism continues in modern day India.
