Big changes to 94.7 radio lineup

 ·9 Feb 2017

94.7’s breakfast show host Darren “Whackhead” Simpson will be moving to a later slot, replaced by Anele Mdoda.

According to Simpson, speaking on his breakfast show, it was time for a change, as his working hours were not great for his family life.

Simpson will now be moving to the afternoon drive show, which is currently being hosted by Mdoda. Mdoda in turn will take over the breakfast show.

Mdoda said she was ready to take on the challenge of breakfast radio, which is one of the most important slots on the air across all stations.

Mdoda made her debut in 94.7’s evening show, before moving to 5FM, and ultimately returning to 94.7 in 2012. She also host her own talkshow in SABC 3 called Real Talk with Anele.

According to 94.7, it is happy to shake up its lineup, while keeping the personalities in its books.

The latest data from the Broadcast Research Council in South Africa (BRC) shows that 94.7 is the 13th largest commercial radio station in the country, with an audience size of 952,000 people.
