Everything you need to know about the #GuptaLeaks in one place

South Africa’s investigative media groups have launched Gupta-leaks.com – a website that brings together all the published information on the people and companies linked to the Gupta family and the state capture saga.

The Gupta leaks – over 100,000 emails directly implicating the controversial Gupta family and many of their associates, including government officials – were first published publicly by The Sunday Times and City Press during the ANC’s most recent NEC meeting in May.

Investigative groups, amaBhungane and the Daily Maverick’s Scorpio, have been releasing new information from the leaks on an almost daily basis, with access to between 100,000 and 200,000 emails. News24 has also joined in on disseminating the information.

Some of the biggest scandals to emerge from the emails include:

Tech companies who have been pulled into the Gupta saga include SAP and listed ICT firm, EOH.

The latest leaks reveal how the Guptas got in with those who are closest to the president, and have also aided and financed groups who are vocal supporters of Zuma, including the MK veterans and the ANC Youth League.

The Guptas have not spoken about the emails directly, but maintain that they are victims in a political smear campaign. The ANC has acknowledged the emails, and said that it has received confirmation from various officials mentioned in the emails that they are authentic.

The family has been accused of running a shadow government, using its ties to president Jacob Zuma to gain lucrative contracts with state companies, and even influence which ministers have been appointed.

According to the Daily Maverick, the full trove of emails has been placed in the care of an offshore organisation, which has loaded it to a secure platform.
