SABC journalist mugged live on camera

A SABC journalist was mugged on live TV on Tuesday evening (10 March).

Contributing editor Vuyo Mvoko was outside the Milpark Hospital in central Johannesburg, preparing to go live with a story covering the arrival of Zambian President Edgar Lungu at Milpark Hospital.

Two muggers approached Mvoko, who was lit in front of the camera, and proceeded to threaten and rob him and the rest of the production crew, who were hidden in the darkness.

The mugging took place in full view of the cameras, easily identifying both of the men, on live TV.

According to the SABC, the muggers were carrying firearms.
