MTN appoints new executive from Discovery Health
MTN has appointed Benjamin Marais as its new chief information officer, effective 01 March 2016.
Marais joins MTN from Discovery Health where he served in a similar role.
He takes over from Neil Tomkinson, who moves to MTN Group.
In December MTN announced that Jyoti Desai assumed the new position of group chief operating officer, reporting to the executive chairman, Phuthuma Nhleko.
Desai had previously served as group chief technology and information officer.
Marais has a wealth of experience in the banking, health and digital space, MTN said, and is a qualified engineer with a BEng, Electronic Engineering qualification from the University of Pretoria.
He worked across the continent, in the United Kingdom and in the Middle East.
Mteto Nyati, MTN South Africa CEO, said that the appointment of Marais is part of a strategy of attracting and retaining the best talent in the market.
