mBlox eyes SA expansion

Mobile messaging firm  mBlox has announced the appointment of James Bayhack as country manager of South Africa, who will lead the company’s expansion in the region.

mBlox recently closed a $14 million venture loan from NXT Capital Finance to fund strategic growth initiatives. mBox’s global network reaches more than 800 mobile operators and 5.8 billion devices.

The group’s major venture backers include Norwest Venture Partners, Scale Venture Partners and Trident Capital.

Bayhack will be based in Cape Town,  and has extensive experience in mobile messaging, including carrier and supplier management, and has driven new business growth in both South Africa and the broader African and European regions.

He also has significant experience in ISP/connectivity marketing, driving sales for companies including Verizon Business and Naspers, mBlox said.
