Cellphones worth R1.5 million were stolen from the Vodacom store in the Hyde Park mall, Johannesburg, on Thursday, Gauteng police said.

Four armed men entered the store around 2.30pm and held staff at gunpoint, Lieutenant Kay Makhubela said.

“They took cellphones worth R1.5 million and then on their way out of the store they started shooting randomly, but no one was injured.”

No arrests had been made.

ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said a woman was treated for shock.
