Mercedes shows off new X² bakkie
Mercedes-Benz has announced a new special edition version of its X-Class bakkie – the X².
The vehicle – which is currently only available to purchase in Germany – features a raised suspension kit increasing the ground clearance of the bakkie to 30 centimetres (compared to the 20.2 centimeters offered on the standard X-Class).
Mercedes said that this extra clearance will allow drivers to tackle inclines of up to 49.8°.
Assisting this off-road capability are Baja STZ 265/60 R18 rubber tyres from Mickey Thompson which will come standard on all variants of the X².
Mercedes is also offering a ‘car wrap’ option on all X² models, with more than 100 colours available.
This includes everything from shiny, matte, metallic and carbon designs – with a number of eye-catching colours such as pink and purple.
A number of additional accessories including styling bars and hardcovers are also available, Mercedes said.
The X² will only be purchasable as a four-door double cab, and is available in either a four-cylinder X250d or a six-cylinder X350d variant.
Pricing starts at €47,190 (R764,168) and €53,490 (R853,490) respectively.
