A look at a R13 million apartment for sale in South Africa’s tallest building

 ·5 Apr 2024

A 3-bedroom apartment in South Africa’s tallest building, the Leonardo, is on the market for R13.5 million.

The Leonardo in Sandown, Johannesburg, measures 227.9 meters high, making it the country’s tallest residential or commercial building.

It is 20 meters higher than the previous record holder, the Carlton Hotel.

It should, however, be noted that the Leonardo is not the tallest structure; that title is held by the 301-metre-high smoke stack at the Sasol Secunda Synthetic fuel plant.

Smoke stacks in South Africa, including those at Eskom’s power stations, make up the nine tallest structures in the country. The Telkom Tower (Hillbrow Tower) is the 10th tallest structure in South Africa, measuring 269 metres.

The Leonardo is a mixed-use development, with restaurants, office spaces, shops, conference centres, spas, a pool and a gym.

Legacy Living said that the 3-bedroom apartment comes with four bathrooms, a dining room and four parking spots.

There is also a balcony so that owners can have a view of the “greenest city in the world.”
