Tag Heuer is launching an Android smartwatch next month

Luxury Swiss watchmaker, Tag Heuer, has set a date for the launch of its Android Wear smartwatch, the Tag Heuer Connected.

The watch will be unveiled at an event in New York on 9 November, and the Swiss company has launched a website counting down the days the the event.

“Tag Heuer is pushing the Swiss avant-garde limits even further with the Tag Heuer Connected. Tradition meets innovation, craftsmanship meets savoir-faire, and bold style meets breakthrough technology,” a statement said on the website.

Tag Heuer Connected has been developed in partnership with Intel and Google.

It is believed that the watch will cost $1,400 (R18,860).

Last week, Apple revealed its watch prices for South Africa, ranging  between R5,899 and R18,499.

Tag tweeted the first image of what the watch is expected to look like:

‘Get ready to experience the next step in innovation.’
