SA tech giant launches courier company
Esquire has launched a courier company, called CourierDirect, in order to cut costs for its clients who order items online.
Esquire is one of the largest distributors of “mobility, digital, and consumer lifestyle products” in Southern Africa.
CourierDirect already boasts a fleet of 12 vehicles, and is expected to be operational by the end of January.
The service will also be of benefit to the company’s Virtual Reseller Network, which features more than 500 online stores.
“Setting up CourierDirect has been a multi-million rand investment, and will piggyback off Esquire’s existing infrastructure,” said Esquire.
Frank Nolte, General Manager of CourierDirect, said the company would operate nationwide. Where the company had no presence, independent couriers would be contracted.
“We are adopting a different approach which will enable us to bring prices down. We will, for instance, charge per delivery – whether we are transporting one or five TVs,” said Nolte.
“We see this as a value added service to customers and we will be able to hit the tarmac running.”
