The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) has announced the retirement of Humphrey Borkum as independent non-executive director and chairman of the group.
Borkum will step down at the group’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held in 2014.
Nonkululeko Nyembezi-Heita has been appointed as new independent non-executive chairman of the JSE.
“The Board is delighted to announce that Ms Nonkululeko Nyembezi-Heita, who joined the Board in June 2009 as an independent non-executive director will succeed Humphrey as independent non-executive chairman, with effect from the day after the 2014 AGM,” the JSE said.
Humphrey was appointed to the board in 2000 as deputy chairman and appointed as chairman of the JSE in 2002.
“Humphrey´s role in the evolution of the JSE business over the decades in our industry has been immense. We will miss his quiet wisdom and counsel as we chart the next stage of our journey,” said Nicky Newton-King, CEO of the JSE.
