Eskom power update
Eskom says that the risk of load shedding is low for both Thursday, and Friday (18, 19 December).
“The power grid remains constrained but stable. The risk of load-shedding is low for today and tomorrow. Weekend focus will be made tomorrow,” it said.
“Though risk of load shedding is low, customers are still urged to continue using electricity efficiently at all times.”
Four Eskom generators stopped working at three different power stations on Tuesday, but were functional again on Wednesday morning.
The power utility warned that it needed to build up its diesel and water reserves, which it had used for the past few days as an alternative supplier.
Eskom has struggled to keep the lights on in recent week, following the collapse of one of its coal storage silos, diesel shortages, and maintenance issues.
