Following our recent article on the promised versus actual weight of chocolate bars and slabs, we wiped down our kitchen scale and tested SA’s chip brands to see if they delivered on their promises.
Small and large packets from the Simba and Willards range were purchased, their stated weight recorded, and the contents of the packet weighed on the food scale.
All the packets were opened over a container placed on the scale to ensure no chip fragments were lost, with the container and scale wiped down after each measurement to avoid any inaccuracies.
The results of the tests are detailed in two infographics below. The first looks at large packets from Simba and Willards, as well as a tube of Pringles.
The seconds deals with small packets.
