PayTV changes for MultiChoice
MultiChoice has undergone a management reshuffle in its South Africa PayTV business, following the resignation of MultiChoice South Africa CEO, Collins Khumalo, who is taking a “time out” after 17 years with the group.
“Collins has played various roles within the PayTV environment and has been a stalwart in assisting the company to build the PayTV business across the continent. The company would like to thank Collins for his sterling service to the group and wish him well in the future,” MultiChoice said in a statement.
MultiChoice, a subsidiary of Naspers, said that in view of the evolution of the business, MultiChoice South Africa will now report directly to Imtiaz Patel, Group CEO, MultiChoice.
The group said that its DStv Mobile and DStv Online businesses had huge overlaps and should be integrated into one unit. As a result, these businesses will be merged into a single entity with immediate effect and the combined business unit will be headed up by John Kotsaftis, current CEO of DStv Online.
Mark Rayner, the current head of DStv Mobile, will be appointed to the position of chief operating officer of MultiChoice South Africa with immediate effect, reporting to Imtiaz Patel.
Calvo Mawela has also been appointed to the position of Stakeholder and Regulatory affairs: Multichoice South Africa Group and will report directly to Imtiaz Patel.
“We thank Collins for his sterling service to the Group and wish him well into the future. I would like to congratulate Mark Rayner, John Kotsaftis and Calvo Mawela on their new roles within the Group,” said Imtiaz Patel.
