Guptas are trying to capture a private airport terminal for SA’s super-rich: report
The ultra-rich and famous have access to a private seven-star airport terminal at OR Tambo International, which includes lounges, luxury suites, showers, a gym, and a spa.
The seven-star airport terminal is currently the subject of a dispute between the Oppenheimer family and the Gupta family.
The Sunday Times reported that the Gupta family is using its influence to delay permission for international flights to the terminal, with the aim of ultimately controlling the facility.
The terminal already serves domestic flights and is controlled by the Oppenheimer family’s Fireblade Aviation.
Fireblade Aviation, which launched the facility in 2014, aims to host a world-class facility for business aviation at OR Tambo.
The Oppenheimer family also offers visitors a full aircraft charter service from the terminal.
