This Cape Town hotel opening next month has a R140,000 per night room
Cape Town’s newest luxury 5-star hotel, The Silo, is preparing to open its doors in March, with prices starting at R12,000 per night, going up to R140,000 for the penthouse suite during peak times.
The Silo is a new property being built as part of the Royal Portfolio group of hotels, which includes the The One Above, La Residence in Franschoek and Birkenhead House in Hermanus.
The latest addition is being built into the historic silo complex at the V&A Waterfront, taking up six floors of the grain elevator portion of the structure. The hotel is above what will become the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, and is set to open its doors in March 2017.
The Silo building was converted by Heatherwick Studio, which also designed the Zeitz MOCAA.
The redesigned building is said to become “as synonymous with the Cape Town skyline as the Eiffel Tower is to Paris”.
The hotel will have 28 rooms in total, all individually designed, across seven categories, including a one bedroom penthouse, which fetches the highest price of R140,000 a night over the festive season (ranging between R90,000 and R110,000 during the rest of the year).
Other rooms include the “Royal suites” (R41,000-R66,000), “Family suites” (R26,000-R40,000) and “Deluxe Superior” (R18,000-R29,500), “Superior” (R16,800-R27,500) and “Luxury” (R13,000-R21,500) rooms.
The “Silo” rooms are the hotel’s cheapest offering, with an off-season charge of R12,000 per night, climbing to R19,500 per night during the festive season.
All the rates include breakfast and a bottle of sparkling wine on arrival, with access to the hotel’s fitness and spa facilities, the group said.
