Here’s what is happening in and affecting South Africa today:

The board is reportedly allowing Koko to choose the presiding officer of the process, and is taking on a representative that was deemed to inexperienced and junior.
- NPA head Shaun Abrahams will have his integrity tested this week as he prepares to tell president Jacob Zuma whether or not he will reinstate 783 corruption charges against him. The Supreme Court last week ruled with the High Court that dropping the charges was irrational.
- Public enterprises minister Lynne Brown may face a public protector investigation following weekend reports that she was involved in awarding a lucrative oil contract to her partner and business associate – despite their company not having any experience in the field.
- South Africa’s rand climbed to its firmest level in two weeks on Friday, driven higher by a court ruling upholding corruption charges against President Jacob Zuma. On Monday the rand was at R13.30 to the dollar, R17.69 to the pound and R15.71 to the euro.
