South African airline sends message about June 30
CemAir has warned South Africans that planned protest action is expected on June 30 2026, which may result in airport disruptions across the country.
Although the extent and impact of the protests remain uncertain, passengers need to note that road access to airports, airport staffing levels, security screening, and baggage handling may be affected.
CemAir said that these factors could lead to flight delays or operational disruptions beyond its control.
The protests in South Africa are part of a national shutdown linked to immigration. The central group behind the shutdown is March and March, which has been protesting for close to two years.
President Cyril Ramaphosa warned protestors that violence, threats and intimidation will not be tolerated.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) and private security are also on heightened alert with the protests.
CemAir said that it is actively monitoring the situation and working closely with airport authorities and operational partners to minimise any impact on its flight schedule.
“Our teams will make every effort to maintain normal operations and ensure passengers reach their destinations as safely and efficiently as possible,” it said.
It has advised travellers travelling on Tuesday, June 30, to arrive at the airport earlier than usual to allow additional time for possible traffic congestion and airport processing delays.
One should also monitor their email, WhatsApp notifications and social media channels for the latest updates.
They should also ensure their contact details are up to date in their booking so they can receive important notifications about their flight.
For CemAir customers, affected passengers will be contacted directly using the contact information provided at the time of booking, should operational changes become necessary.
