 ·11 Oct 2012

Listed group Muvoni Technology, through its subsidiary, Ideco AFISwitch, has entered into an agreement with ZNG Technologies to purchase the intellectual property relating to software developed by the latter firm, for R6.5 million.

The software is used by Ideco AFISwitch to conduct criminal record checks against the South African Police Service fingerprint database within South Africa.

Ideco AFISwitch sells itself as South Africa’s sole provider to the private sector of automated criminal record checks. AFISwitch interfaces with the SAPS Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) to determine the criminal background status of a person.

The purchase comprises the software, know how, intellectual property, branding, the source code and documentation.

According to Muvoni Technology, formerly Ideco Group, the board was approached by ZNG to purchase the sale asset as opposed to paying a monthly royalty fee.

“The board believes that it is in the Company´s best interest to purchase the Sale Asset,” it said.
