Amazon has announced that South Africa will be one of the nearly 200 supported countries for its Android Appstore when it launches internationally for consumers.

Previously the online retail giant had expanded the Amazon Appstore into the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Japan.

It is interesting to note that Amazon does not sell its Kindle Fire tablet into these new markets yet, however.

According to Amazon, its Appstore will be made available “in the coming months”.

Registered developers who want international distribution will have their apps automatically made available for download, unless they designate otherwise, Amazon said.
