First National Bank (FNB), has unveiled a digital magazine, FNB Private Life, to be distributed via mobile platforms.

The bank announced last month that its banking app for smartphones has gained 500,000 active clients in less than two years, since its launch in July 2011.

FNB Private Clients said it took “the bold and innovative decision” partnering with software development company Realmdigital.

The bank took a cheeky pop at its rivals by stating: “FNB continuously strive to be at the forefront of technological innovation and have advanced a lot quicker than most South African financial institutions.”

Using the Snapplify digital publishing solution, Realmdigital developed the FNB Private Clients mobile application which is now available for download on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, FNB said.

The Private Life is a digital lifestyle and financial magazine independently written for the clients of FNB’s private banking division, FNB Private Clients. The digital magazine with bespoke editorial and photography covers the arts, food, wine, sports, travel and of course personal finance.

“Innovation improves efficiency, we constantly look for innovative ways to enhance our clients’ lifestyles. The Private Life magazine is just one of the ways we are making a concerted effort to enhance the use of technology,” said Eric Enslin, head of private banking at FNB Private Clients.
