MTN loyalty programme nets 15 million members
MTN‘s 1-4-1 loyalty program has surpassed 15 million members.
The 1-4-1 programme rewards all South African MTN customers – on pre-paid and contract – with airtime, SMS and data bundles through the trade of accumulated points. Members earn points through spending money (1 point for every R1 spent) and remaining active on the network (1 point per day).
MTN’s chief marketing officer, Serame Taukobong, shared some figures indicating how MTN loyalty customers preferred to reap their rewards, showing a strong preference for airtime.
“To date, MTN 1-4-1 members have received over R76 million worth of points. Members have shown a particular preference for trading points for airtime and SMS, with over 85% of redemptions being utilised for this purpose,” said Taukobong.
The 15 million member figure marks one of the largest opt-in loyalty programmes in South Africa, MTN said.
