St David’s Marist Inanda achieved a 100% pass rate and a 100% Bachelor’s Degree pass, with eight boys averaging 90% or above.

St David’s Marist Inanda is one of South Africa’s leading independent Catholic boys’ schools, located in the heart of Sandton, Johannesburg.

Established in 1941, it has a reputation for striking a balance between high academic standards and a strong family spirit, rooted in Marist values.

These values include humility, simplicity, and modesty, a family spirit, love of work, presence and “In the Way of Mary”.

The school is situated on a 21-acre campus on Rivonia Road and caters to boys from Grade 00 to Matric.

By 1948, it had its first matric class, and by 1953, the boys were participating competitively in athletics, swimming, tennis, rugby, football and cricket.

In 2023, St David’s opened a satellite campus in Alexandra to extend its Marist footprint in line with its vision and mission.

St David’s has over 1400 pupils across the two campuses, offering world-class facilities to support the development and growth of its learners.

They are highly competitive in cricket, water polo, rugby, football, and canoeing. The Temba Bavuma Oval is named after their famous alumnus.

St David’s Marist Inanda has a big music and arts culture. Their choir has won international awards, and they have a strong tradition in debating and drama.

St David’s is consistently among the top-performing schools in South Africa under the IEB (Independent Examinations Board) curriculum.

Class sizes for complex subjects, such as mathematics, are kept small, often with as few as 14 students, to allow for individualised attention.

Other notable alumni include soccer player Giulio Giuricich, cricketers Dominic Hendricks and Pumelela Matshikwe, and EFF MP Vuyani Pambo.

St David’s Marist Inanda 2025 matric results

St David’s Marist Inanda’s 2025 Matric class achieved a 100% pass rate and a 100% Bachelor’s Degree pass.

“The strength of the Class of 2025 is highlighted in the rare achievement of every single matriculant obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree pass,” Executive Headmaster Mike Thiel said.

St David’s said that its overall distinction rate among top achievers builds on a strong academic legacy.

One boy achieved 9 distinctions, seven boys achieved 8 distinctions, 10 boys achieved 7 distinctions, and 11 boys achieved 6 distinctions.

Eight boys averaged 90% or above, 27 boys averaged above 80%, and an additional 46 boys averaged above 70%.

“Notably, the school achieved a distinction rate of more than 30% in 14 subjects and an above 50% distinction rate,” it said.

These subjects include Engineering Graphics and Design, Information Technology (IT), Life Sciences, Italian, Mathematics, Mathematics Literacy, and Visual Arts.

“This range of subjects is indicative of the diversity of subjects that the boys have the opportunity to take and excel in,” Thiel said.

“We thank and congratulate our teachers and extended staff who have worked tirelessly to help these young men reach their full potential.”

“Their commitment and passion for education, as well as their personal investment in each of these young men’s lives, are greatly appreciated.”
