Another level 4 severe weather warning for South Africa
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Yellow Level 4 Warning for disruptive rain for the eastern Namakwa region of the Northern Cape and the Central Karoo District of the Western Cape.
SAWS warned that this could lead to flooding of roads and settlements, and major disruption of traffic flow.
A Yellow Level 2 Warning has been issued for the Nama Khoi and Kamiesberg municipalities of the Northern Cape, the West Coast, Cape Winelands, Overberg Districts, and the City of Cape Town.
These regions should expect severe thunderstorms with excessive lightning, which could cause injuries to both humans and livestock and disrupt services due to power outages.
The SAWS has issued a Yellow Level 2 Warning for the North West, the eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the central and western parts of the Free State, the central and western parts of Limpopo and the northern parts of the Eastern Cape.
This warning is for damaging winds, which could damage informal settlements and disrupt power and communications.
Another Yellow Level 2 warning has been issued for Port Edward, Richards Bay, and the adjacent interior.
Residents in these regions can expect damaging winds and waves, which are predicted to disrupt small harbours and ports for a short period.
These winds and waves may also cause difficulty in navigation and damage to infrastructure.
A Yellow level 1 Warning has been issued for severe thunderstorms and damaging winds in the Eastern Cape.
The SAWS said that residents in the Eastern Cape could expect damage to settlements and temporary structures, as well as disruptions to power and communication.
The SAWS has warned that extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in the western parts of the Waterberg District and the Blouberg Municipality of Limpopo.
