Pick n Pay’s big Black Friday plans for 2022

 ·15 Nov 2022

Pick n Pay has revealed its plans for Black Friday 2022, offering great deals under its two supermarket brands and growing online presence – including discounts offered by its new homeware online shop.

Early Black Friday deals will launch the week leading up to Black Friday on 25 November, with the Black Friday deals running for the weekend, it said.

The group said that it will be offering its Black Friday deals through two brands – Pick n Pay and the new QualiSave stores – to ensure specials are tailored to specific customers’ needs.

Pick n Pay will focus on essential everyday groceries – the items customers most want and need – while QualiSave stores will focus more on multi and combo commodity deals, it said.

Some of the specials on offer will focus on cleaning products, nappies and toilet paper, as well as fresh produce and spoil-yourself items like chocolates and biscuits.

“We also believe many customers will use our Black Friday deals to get a head start on Christmas shopping, and we’ve added deals for this in particular. Many of our customers save up for special items like tech and appliances – including the popular air fryer – and we’ll have some fantastic deals available,” the group said.

The retail group noted that most Black Friday deals would be Smart Price, and customers need to swipe their Smart Shopper loyalty card to unlock them.

The group said that a bonus of swiping their card is that customers also earn cash back to spend on their future shopping expeditions.

Customers will also be able to shop all Black Friday deals online, and delivery slots have been increased significantly for expedient delivery times.

Pick n Pay added that, for the first time, customers will get nationwide delivery on all large-scale purchases, such as appliances, via the Pick n Pay Home online shop – which launched this month – and will offer free delivery for orders over R500.

In addition to the Black Friday savings, Smart Shopper customers will get 10% back on all Pick n Pay Home orders to spend on groceries at Pick n Pay. Pick n Pay Home offers a wide array of products for the home that customers could typically find in a hypermarket and an exclusive online-only range of premium kitchenware and homeware items, the group said.

Customers can also shop for unlimited Black Friday grocery deals on their online platform and have a team deliver their order to their front door or straight into their kitchen.

Pick n Pay highlighted that customers could get same-day delivery if they place their order before 14h00 in selected areas – otherwise, delivery will be as early as the next day.

Black Friday has become Pick n Pay’s single largest trading day, as it reported R800 million in sales during Black Friday in 2021. Based on last year’s success, Pick n Pay will again run Early Black Friday specials in stores and online in the build-up to its popular Black Friday weekend.

The group added that the company works months in advance for this important shopping day and plans carefully to ensure sufficient supplies for customers.

Customers can see the latest Black Friday updates on the Pick n Pay website.
