Big banking rewards for Black Friday – including Absa double points and FNB eBucks discounts
Banking groups Absa and FNB have published details about their Black Friday deals for 2022.
Absa’s Black Friday special will see customers earn up to 60% real cash back, depending on their rewards tier, with double cashback rewards running from 23 November to 30 November.
All Absa Rewards members who use their Absa debit or credit card to shop in-store or online during the Black Friday period will earn double cashback up to a maximum of 60% on all transactions, the bank said.
To qualify, customers need to:
- Be an Absa Rewards member or join Absa Rewards.
- Complete any Absa Advantage challenge on the Absa Banking App between 16 August 2022 and 30 November 2022
- Use an Absa debit or credit card to shop in-store or online between 23 November 2022 and 30 November 2022
Absa noted that internet banking transfers and CashSend are not qualifying transactions for the benefit.

FNB Black Friday sale
FNB has announced month-long deals for both Black Friday and Cyber Monday, stretching from 10 November to 10 December.
According to FNB, the bank’s eBucks shop will offer discounts of up to 60% on selected products as well as free delivery for those who purchased goods through the FNB or RMB Private Bank App.
eBucks members can also expect discounts at participating partners, like Netflorist and Superbalist.
In addition to the eBucks discounts, FNB Connect will also be running specials from 18 November to 31 December, where customers can get up to 50% off monthly instalments on selected devices.

The Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals are in addition to the newly introduced eBucks relief benefits that can help customers save money on travel, fuel, and groceries.
eBucks will continue to run the following relief measures until the end of December 2022:
- Travel relief: Individual and business customers will continue to get an additional R2/L back in eBucks at Engen, Unlimited SLOW Lounge access and earn 10% back in eBucks on QuickBus tickets booked via the FNB /RMB Private Bank App.
- Grocery relief: Individual and business customers will earn double eBucks rewards when using their Virtual Card on grocery spending at Checkers, Checkers Sixty60, Shoprite and Usave. FNB Easy PayU customers can double their weekly coupons by using their FNB Virtual Card or spending R150 at Checkers, Shoprite or Usave weekly.
- Spend relief: 100 individual and business customers could win 10x their annual eBucks spend back if they save their money and spend their eBucks at any of our participating partners.
