Telkom wins case against Vodacom for unlawful use of its infrastructure

Telkom says it has won a ‘landmark’ case with costs against Vodacom at the Western High Court after it accused the company of unlawfully using its cable infrastructure.

Telkom said it brought an urgent application against Vodacom relating to its “unlawful use of its infrastructure in the Dennegeur residential estate, in Somerset West.

“Our concern was that Vodacom unlawfully accessed Telkom’s duct infrastructure and we requested the court to order Vodacom to remove its cabling from our ducts,” the telco said in a statement on Wednesday, 26 July 2017.

“Telkom is pleased that the court ruled in our favour and agreed that our infrastructure may not be accessed without following prescribed regulatory process,” it said.
