Grant Bodley is chief executive officer of Dimension Data – a global systems integrator and managed services provider for hybrid IT.
Based in Johannesburg, the company maintains operations on every inhabited continent, following an acquisition by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) Corp a decade ago.
Dimension Data focuses on IT consulting, technical and support services, and managed services.
Bodley began his career in sales at Dimension Data, where he was responsible for all sales in the Middle East and Africa across three brands being Dimension Data, Internet Solutions and Plessey.
He then took overall responsibility for Dimension Data’s outsourcing business in the Middle East and Africa, growing revenue from R250 million to over a R1 billion.
Since being appointed as CEO, he has generated topline growth, as well as inspiring a marked improvement in profitability. He obtained a B. Agric at Stellenbosch University.
In this episode of Business Talk with Michael Avery, Bodley talks through the restructure of Dimension Data before the onset of Covid-19, which he says led to another pause and rethink for the company, ‘on how to remain relevant’.
He highlights the lessons he has learned from the virus and resultant lockdown, notably how adaptable humans and organisations can be.
Bodley also explains how Dimension Data expects to take advantage of the acceleration to digital during the pandemic, while also committing to the country through its data centre expansion plans.
