Here is the official petrol price for March 2017
The Department of Energy has announced a small decrease in the petrol price for March 2017.
The inland price of 95 octane petrol will fall by 8 cents, while the wholesale price of diesel will go down by 2 cents per litre, the department said.
The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin will decrease by 8 cents.
The main reason for the drop in prices is because of a stronger rand against the US dollar.
The average rand/US dollar exchange rate for the period 27 January 2017 to 23 February 2017 was 13.2899 compared to 13.5831 during the previous period.
This led to a lower contribution to the Basic Fuels Price on petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin by 13.44 c/l, 12.93 c/l and 12.80 c/l respectively.
While a drop in the petrol price will be welcomed, motorists face a tough April, when a number of levies are due to kick in,
From 1 April 2017, the fuel levy will increase by 30 cents per litre, while the Road Accident Fund levy will increase by 9 cents.
