Eskom eases daytime load shedding
Power utility Eskom says that daytime load shedding will be eased to stage 1 on Wednesday and for the rest of the week following a recovery in generation.
However, stage 4 load shedding during the evening peak will continue.
Load shedding will be downgraded to stage 1 on Wednesday (2 August) at 05h00 until 16h00. Thereafter, stage 4 load shedding will continue until 05h00 on Thursday,
This pattern will repeat until further notice, it said.
Tuesday, 1 August
- Stage 2: until 16h00
- Stage 4: 16h00 to 00h00
Wednesday, 2 August
- Stage 4: 00h00 to 05h00
- Stage 1: 05h00 to 16h00
- Stage 4: 16h00 to 00h00

The eased load shedding comes amid colder weather in the country, with the latest cold front hitting inland areas on Sunday. The colder weather is expected to carry through to the end of the week.
Eskom has issued several alerts urging South Africans to manage their electricity demand so that the group can avoid higher stages of load shedding.
