Here is the official petrol price for March

The Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has published the official fuel price adjustments that will take effect on Wednesday, 5 March 2025.

February started with fuel recoveries tilted heavily towards increases, but the global price of oil and the rand eventually stabilised and then pushed in the other direction.

This has translated to a small price cut at the pumps in March.

Prices will be cut by 7 cents per litre for 93 and 95 petrol, and between 18 and 24 cents per litre for diesel.

During the period under review, the average international product prices for petrol and illuminating paraffin increased, while diesel decreased.

On average, the rand appreciated against the US dollar during the period under review compared to the previous period.

The average rand/US dollar exchange rate from 31 January 2025 to 27 February 2025 was 18.5047, compared to 18.7343 during the previous period.

This led to a lower contribution to the Basic Fuel Prices of petrol, diesel, and illuminating paraffin by 13.54 c/l, 14.38 c/l, and 14.15 c/l, respectively.

In line with the provisions of the Self-Adjusting Slate Levy Mechanism, the Slate Levy on petrol and diesel will remain at 0.00 c/l with effect from 05 March.
