Leadership change at Eskom
Eskom has announced that Junaid Munshi has been appointed the Group Executive for its Distribution division, effective 1 June 2026.
Munshi will take over the position from Monde Bala, who was seconded to the Interim Chief Executive Officer (ICEO) position at the National Transmission Company South Africa (NTCSA).
He was subsequently appointed as CEO at NTCSA. Agnes Mlambo was appointed to Bala’s role in an acting capacity, with Munshi now taking over permanently.
Munshi is a seasoned executive with more than three decades of engineering, marketing and commercial leadership experience in the technology and telecommunications sectors across South Africa.
Most recently, he served as Chief Commercial Officer at Cable & Wireless Seychelles, where he was responsible for overall commercial strategy, revenue growth, and market leadership, overseeing key functions including marketing, sales, customer service, and field operations.
Prior to this, he held senior executive roles within organisations including Maziv Group, Cell C, and Vodacom Group.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering from the University of Cape Town, a Graduate Diploma in Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Wits Business School, Johannesburg.
