Here is the official petrol price for November

 ·3 Nov 2026

The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources has published the official fuel price adjustments that will take effect on Wednesday, 4 November 2026.

Petrol prices will be cut by 1 cent per litre for 93 and 95, and diesel will be cut by R1.10 and R1.20 per litre for 0.05% and 0.005%, respectively.

October was another strained month for fuel recoveries, with climbing global oil prices exacerbated by a much weaker rand versus the dollar.

Recoveries were deep in the red throughout the month, putting motorists in line for another hefty price hike at the pumps for November.

However, following calls from various sectors for intervention, the National Treasury announced an R10 billion relief package, effective from 4 November.

This will see the general fuel levy temporarily cut for the second time this year by R1.50 per litre for petrol and R3.00 per litre for diesel.

However, the increase in the slate levy has largely undone any benefit from the late-month turn in petrol recoveries, effectively balancing out the relief from Treasury.

Diesel drivers will still enjoy a cut this week, however.

The table below outlines the changes for the month ahead:

FuelChange
Petrol 93decrease of R0.01 per litre
Petrol 95decrease of R0.01 per litre
Diesel 0.05% (wholesale)decrease of R1.10 per litre
Diesel 0.005% (wholesale)decrease of R1.20 per litre
Illuminating Paraffin (Wholesale)increase of R2.75 per litre
LPGAS (Gauteng)increase of R1.83 cents per kg

The average Brent Crude oil price increased from 101 US Dollars (USD) to 108 USD during the period under review.

The increase is due to uncertainty caused by Middle East conflict, including the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia infrastructure, as well as high freight and insurance costs caused by ship-to-ship transfers.

The average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin increased during the period under review.

Middle distillates prices are mainly affected by tight global supply, higher seasonal demand ahead of the winter in the Northern Hemisphere and continued Russia/Ukraine conflict. T

his is despite initiatives to enhance global supply of diesel by the G7, the waiving of Russia Sanctions by the US as well as the lifting of export restrictions by Russia.

These factors led to higher contributions to the Basic Fuel Prices (BFP) of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin by 80.41 cents per litre (c/l), 94.22 c/l and 225.23 c/l, respectively.

The prices of Propane and Butane also increased during the period under review.

The Rand depreciated on average against the US Dollar (from 16.21 to 16.55 Rand per USD) during the period under review when compared to the previous one.

This led to higher contributions to the Basic Fuel Prices of petrol, diesel and Illuminating Paraffin by 36.93 c/l, 49.00 c/l and 49.26 c/l respectively.

The cumulative slate amounted to a negative balance of R15.876 billion for petrol and diesel of at the end of September 2026.

In line with the provisions of the Self-Adjusting Slate Levy Mechanism, the slate levy of 135.84 c/l will be implemented in the price structures of petrol and diesel with effect from the 4th of November 2026.

The Slate Levy has increased by 48.18 c/l from 87.66 c/l to 135.84 c/l.

The changes are effective from Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
