South African TV sales are set to increase because of the growing demand for high-end LED televisions for sporting events like the 2012 London Olympics, Rugby Tri Nations and the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup. This is according to Gavin Spark, marketing supervisor of home entertainment TV at LG Electronics SA.
Spark said that the company has seen a general increase in TV sales year on year, especially on LED models and LG Cinema 3D TVs.
LG is one of the prominent TV brands in South Africa, and competes directly against Samsung and Sony in the high-end TV market.
LG is currently offering its LM8600 CINEMA 3D Smart TV to high-end consumers in South Africa, and is set to launch its highly anticipated 55” OLED TV later this year.
