A look inside Apple

 ·4 Jan 2013

With Apple‘s plans to start construction on its second campus, we take a quick look at the world’s largest tech company’s current digs, and weigh it up against its planned successor.

Apple’s current campus, located on Infinite Loop street in Cupertino, California, is about a mile (1.6km) away from the location of its planned spaceship upgrade – but the building still embodies everything the Apple brand stands for. Perhaps maybe not in its outward design, which was built in 1993, but inside, definitely.

The Apple campus has six buildings that total 79,000 square metres, and features a sleek interior that looks simple – yet refined. Like many of its products, really.

With billions upon billions of dollars at its disposal, there’s no wonder that the planned Apple campus 2 is expected to be a thing of beauty.

Dubbed “the spaceship”, the plans for this marvel of design were unveiled in 2011, with plans to star building in 2012. However, construction for Apple’s second campus is now expected to commence in 2014, with a completion date set for two yaers afterwards, in 2016.

Apple’s campus 2 features a circular design about a mile in circumference, occupying 2.8 million square feet of space, and is said to become one of the largest buildings in the world.

The building is expected to host about 14,200 people.
