Speaking to MyBroadband BusinessTech on Samsung’s current position and future plans in South Africa, Liebenberg said that the “launch of an exciting new range of innovative, lifestyle-focused products this year” will cement the company’s top spot in the SA TV and home entertainment market.
Samsung is also aggressively growing their presence in the local IT solutions space.
“Our notebooks have been extremely successful in the local market, as with our laser printers and our monitors. [This is] as a result of the high level of innovative products that we have brought to market.
“In fact, we have increased our market share by 28.5% in Q4 of 2011 and expect the same for 2012,” said Liebenberg.
Liebenberg highlighted that Samsung is also king in product categories like side-by-side fridges, washing machines and flat-panel TVs.
“The key products, specifically, that have driven this [number 1 spot] include the D7000 series Smart TV range; our Deep Foam front loading washing machines; and Twin Cooling Plus, side-by-side refrigerators,” said Liebenberg.
This year, Liebenberg said, consumers can expect a strong alignment by Samsung to the needs of the consumer and the business markets driving the Smart Living agenda. “This agenda is underpinned by convenience, innovation and of course, functionality,” he said.
“Samsung is adamant to get under consumers’ skins through the provision of solutions for the home and business, and will take an ‘aggressive’ marketing and sales drive to support the success of these objectives,” concluded Liebenberg.
