Look & Listen shuts online store

Consumer goods retailer Look & Listen has announced via its website that it will be halting all online purchases from 12 February 2013.
According to the company, the site will remain active for “product research” and to market promotions and competitions.
Pre-ordered goods will still be delivered – while any customers with funds in a virtual e-wallet can either convert the amount to a virtual gift voucher or opt for a refund.
The halt applies to both physical and digital products as well as the online mp3 store that it revamped in December 2011.
At the time of the site’s make-over, Look & Listen had over 3.5 million MP3 tracks available to download directly from their website, as well as a huge range of CDs, DVDs, electronics and games.
The move comes as a surprise, after CEO Darren Levy, said that the company was “well entrenched” in the online space, and that it was seeing rapid growth in the online side of its business.
Speaking to BusinessTech in December 2012, Levy said that Look & Listen was “focusing more and more online as we see the trend of online shopping growing as more people understand and trust the online shopping experience”.
“We have increased our online sales considerably since last year indicating that more people are comfortable with purchasing online and seeing the benefit in this,” Levy said at the time.
