 ·27 Jul 2012

IT service and solution provider, EMC’s country manager for South Africa, Inana Nkanza passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning (26 July) following a short illness.

EMC’s President for global sales and customer operations, Bill Scannell, posted the following eulogy on the company’s site:

“The EMC team has been privileged to know Inana and to work with him. In his time with us we came to know an extraordinary man and leader: a visionary who was respected across our industry and who inspired those around him.”

“We will miss him greatly, as a friend and a colleague. Our collective thoughts and prayers are with Inana’s family in their time of loss and mourning.”

Nkanza was appointed EMC country manager in April 2010 after Gerhard van der Merwe resigned; his primary role at EMC was to accelerate the development of the business in the mid-market and reinforce the company’s presence in large customer accounts.

He was educated in Africa and Europe, and was previously managing director of SUN Microsystems South Africa.

Nkanza is survived by his wife, Kwezile and his three young children.

EMC South Africa could not immediately be reached for further comment.
