Tarsus CEO steps down

MB Technologies has announced that Tarsus Technologies CEO, Pierre Spies, has resigned from the company, with Anton Herbst taking over as interim CEO.

Tarsus Technologies is an IT hardware and software distributor and reseller operating in Southern Africa.

Spies joined Tarsus in 1992 and held the position of financial director from 1994 until his promotion to CEO of Tarsus in 2007. He served on the MB Technologies Group board as an executive director from 2009.

Herbst was previously the CEO of fellow MB Tech subsidiary, Advanced Channel Technologies (ACT).

“Anton has a proven track record and is a respected senior executive in the Group. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the SA IT industry spanning more than two decades,” said MB Tech CEO, Glenn Fullerton.

“He is the ideal person to step into the role until a new CEO is appointed. Anton, currently consults to the Group in the areas of strategy and business development.”

Spies will leave the company at the end of May 2013, while Herbst will take over the position with immediate effect.

Spies will continue to consult for the MB group for the next 12 months, the company said.
