VMware appoints regional head
VMware, the global leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, has announced the appointment of Ravi Bhat as regional director, Sub-Saharan Africa.
The appointment is effective as of 23 October 2013.
Reporting to Matt Piercy, Regional VP for Northern EMEA, Bhat will be responsible for heading up the regional office in South Africa as well as managing the company’s expansion into WECA (West East Central Africa) region.
He will be based in the company’s Johannesburg office.
Prior to joining VMware, Bhat spent several years with IBM, most recently leading the IBM Software business in South Africa.
“VMware is currently investing in the expansion of its operations throughout the Sub-Saharan Africa region, a region which is hungry for both virtualization and cloud technologies,” said Piercy.
“Our appointment of Ravi is further evidence of this commitment as well as of our personal investment in the region’s leadership.”
“We believe that his extensive experience and leadership skills will be a great asset to support our continued and envisaged growth in the region,” Piercy said.
