Altech has no immediate plans to replace former chief operating officer, Jeffrey Hedberg, who left the company at the end of January 2012.

Altech explained that the position of COO is currently managed by Altech CEO, Craig Venter, with the support of two experienced executives – John Carstens and Johan Klein.

John Carstens, in addition to his current duties as chief financial officer, is overseeing the portfolios of ‘Converged Services & Connectivity’, and ‘Multi-media & Electronics’.

Johan Klein, in addition to his duties of group executive human resources and industrial relations, is also responsible for the portfolios of ‘Telecoms Services’ and ‘Information Technology’.

“The position of COO will be reviewed in the next six to twelve months,” Altech said.

Venter announced on 19 January 2012 that Hedberg had resigned from Altech to pursue his career outside of the Altech Group.
