Motsoeneng suspension ruling heading to Constitutional Court

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) on Friday said it will take the Supreme Court of Appeal’s (SCA) ruling on its COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng to the Constitutional Court.
The SCA ruled on Thursday that Motsoeneng should be suspended for 60 days while a disciplinary hearing into his alleged breaches of conduct is undertaken.
Motsoeneng‚ the SABC and the Communications Minister were challenging an earlier high court order that upheld Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s finding that action be taken against him for receiving exorbitant salary increases and forging his matric qualification.
“The SABC has instructed its lawyers to lodge an urgent appeal with the Constitutional Court‚ in regards to the Judgement laid down by the Supreme Court of Appeal yesterday‚” the broadcaster said in a statement.
“The judgement was in relation to the SABC’s Chief Operations Officer (COO)‚ Mr Hlaudi Motsoeneng. The Corporation will communicate further on this matter at an appropriate time.”
