This is South Africa’s car of the year for 2019
Autotrader announced its Car of the Year winners for 2019 at an event in Gauteng on Thursday evening (4 April).
After the finalists were announced at the end of November 2018, the jurors were all afforded the opportunity to test drive the cars. This evaluation process ended with two test days at the beginning of March, followed by the tallying of the final scores.
Mercedes-Benz emerged as the overall winner in this year’s competition, with the new A-Class walking away with the prestigious title.
The Porsche Cayenne was named as the first runner-up, while the Volvo XC40 was named as the second runner-up.
Suzuki also took home a number of notable awards with the Suzuki Jimny named as the best Lifestyle Utility Vehicle, while the Suzuki Swift took home top prize in the best Urban Compact category.
