The Top Employers South Africa awards for 2015 took place recently, revealing that Unilever South Africa is the best company to work for in the country.

Top Employers is an annual programme that certifies organisations which successfully demonstrate an exceptional HR environment and employee offerings.

Microsoft is ranked as the top IT company to work for in South Africa, and is also ranked as the third best company overall.

Vodacom was ranked as the top company to work for in the telecommunications sector – also making it into the top 10 best companies overall.

The top 10 companies in the Top Employers South Africa awards for 2015 were:

  1. Unilever South Africa
  2. Old Mutual
  3. Microsoft
  4. Accenture
  5. SAP
  6. Nestle
  7. Tata CS
  8. Coca-Cola South Africa
  9. EY
  10. Vodacom

All companies are independently certified through an audit and evaluation process, which is conducted after an organization has registered with the Top Employers group.

“Only employers that achieve the required level will qualify for certification. That means that the certified Top Employers can proudly call themselves one of the world’s leading employers and reap the associated employer brand reinforcement,” the group said.

There are currently 78 South African companies who are registered that have achieved ‘top employer’ status.

To qualify as a top employer a company needs at least 250 employees locally, or 2,500 employees internationally, and must also submit a ‘research’ fee.
