The Foschini Group (TFG) has announced the launch of an omni-channel online retail platform – tfg.co.za – which will ultimately see all 17 of the group’s store brands coming online.
The platform aims to provide customers with an “integrated, seamless shopping experience” with customers only needing to sign in once, and shop across all available brands.
The platform uses Oracle’s e-commerce technology, Oracle ATG, which is used by global retailers such as Walmart and Urban Outfitters. TFG said that the new digital strategy is expected to deliver 5% of turnover by 2018.
The group has launched with homeware store @home (home.co.za) and mobile and cellular store hi (hi-online.co.za); however it aims to launch all of its 17 brands online in 2015.
These include stores such as Totalsports, DueSouth, Sportscene, Fabiani, Markham and @homelivingspace.
“The experience for the consumer will ultimately be like visiting an online TFG mall,” the group said.
Further developments in 2015 include website optimisation for mobile phones, app development and virtual gift cards, as well as multi-currency and multi-lingual applications to accommodate expansion into selected African countries, TFG noted.
The online shopping platform will use payments company PayU for transactions, and shoppers will be able to use their store cards and credit cards.
