An eight-bedroom house in Mooikloof Equestrian Estate in Pretoria East is on the market for R29 million.

Seeff, which is selling the property alongside Falcon Estates, Oakhouse Realty, RealNet Rainmaker, ReMax, said that the property is steeped in history and is filled with rolling gardens and magnificent trees.

Seeff added that the eight-bedroom Chateau has a total living area of 2,000 sqm centrally located within the estate.

“Impressively symmetrical the castle has the same elegant proportions and architectural features regardless of the angle from which is being viewed. Once inside the incredible tasteful décor sets a neutral palette against the impressive proportions of each room resulting in a wonderful ambiance,” said Seeff.

“The tiles have been originally and custom made, each bedroom has crafted wardrobes, a fireplace and breathtaking view, the several living areas all with a unique high ceilings and elegant chandeliers which create a feeling of grandness. A gourmet well-located kitchen.”

The estate is incredibly popular with the healthy and is known for its horse-friendly features, with there being paddocks and an equestrian centre.

One can ride to different recreational areas like the dam or the flora-filled green spaces dotting the estate. There are also several trails for riding, cycling or strolling.

This estate also has:

Gerhard van der Linde, MD of Seeff Pretoria East, said that the shift to estate living has seen a boom in Pretoria East

Although the R3 million to R5 million price band is the most in demand for estates, several high-value estate homes sold for over R5 million, and the highest prices paid in Pretoria East were also mostly in the estates.

Van der Linde says that aside from security, estates offer a well-managed environment and sense of community, along with access to amenities such as sports facilities open spaces, and access to good schools.

The highest volumes of high-value sales were in Woodhill Golf Estate with the highest price of R10.5 million, Silver Lakes Golf Estate with several sales over R10 million to the highest price of R18 million, while the Mooikloof Residential Estate recorded the highest price of R16 million.

Apart from being the capital city and seat of the national government, Pretoria is also a top business centre and a popular residential and investment market.

Many foreign embassies and consulates are located in Pretoria East. Data from New World Wealth showed that Pretoria is one of the wealthiest cities on the African continent and home to some 2,100 high-net-worth individuals.

New World Wealth said that the top suburbs for high-net-worth individuals are Waterkloof and Waterkloof Ridge, as well as luxury lifestyle estates such as Silver Lakes, Mooikloof Equestrian Estate, and Woodhill Estate.

Houses in estates are also in high demand for rentals, and PG van der Linde, rental manager for Seeff Pretoria East, said prices of up to nearly R80,000 per month are not unheard of.

Centurion is also home to a number of popular security, lifestyle, and golf estates, said Tiaan Pretorius, manager for Seeff Centurion. The R3 million to R4.5 million range tends to be the most popular.

The highest prices achieved this year in Centurion were mostly in estates, predominantly in the R5 million to R10 million range. The highest volume of sales were in Southdowns Estate, Copper Leaf, Centurion Golf Estate, and Cornwall Hill with sales also concluded in Blue Valley Golf Estate and Irene Farm Villages.
